The project passes through six provinces and regions, including Inner Mongolia (Ordos Shanghai Temple), Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, and Shandong. It includes the construction of two new converter stations in Shanghai Temple and Linyi, with a total conversion capacity of 20 million kilowatts. The transmission line is 1238 kilometers long with a transmission capacity of 10 million kilowatts. The project has a total investment of 22.1 billion yuan and was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in December 2015.
